Solar Eggs is a 3rd generation South Australian business success story. Evolving from its humble beginning as a hobby farm in 1927, Solar Eggs is now positioned at the forefront of egg marketing, farming and supply in the Australia. Significant and continuous investment into plant and equipment ensures the Solar Eggs operation and quality assurance procedures exceed industry standards. The ever expanding North Plympton site has developed to include state of the art cool rooms, warehousing and packing facilities. 

Solar Eggs have been local farmers for generations. We continue to uphold this tradition by retaining a farming operation in the heart of Adelaide; the only farm in any capital city in Australia. Our business has been built on great tasting, fresh eggs and traditional service based on family values. Solar Eggs attributes its success to the very loyal retailers and end users that have supported and grown with them. Without this mutual relationship, investing in the egg industry would be very difficult.

In 2003, the revolutionary Gourmet Breakfast brand was launched, retailing across South Australia in independent supermarkets, Foodland, BP On the Run and specialty stores. The range includes barn laid and free range eggs and provides consumers with a recipe inside each carton. The response to the packaging and the quality eggs inside has been extraordinary and its continuous growth and popularity marks a significant achievement in the highly competitive FMCG market.

Each flock of hens represents a three-year commitment from the hatching of the eggs, to each batch turnover. Solar Eggs currently supplies over 1,000,000 eggs each week. This involves a lot of careful planning to ensure that all eggs have a home and that supply meets our customer’s demands. “Egg farmers are not manufacturers; once lay begins there is no turning them off.” To meet customer requests for different production types and regional locations, Solar Eggs has invested across the state in all different types of production systems and has created marketing brands to suit eg. Gourmet Breakfast Egg Selection, Hens on the Range and Adelaide Eggs. In 2016 Solar Eggs launched the Barossa Free Range Egg from our latest commissioned farm in the Barossa Valley.
